This gorgeous set of bookends are more than fabulous! Sliced from semiprecious stone, these Solid Agate Geode Bookends are a dramatic way to easily anchor all of your precious books. The stones are formed in ancient lava streams in the mountains of Brazil. They combine agate, amethyst, and crystal in layers of many stunning colors, and feature luminous purple colors. These bookends have been hand polished, and the edge of the stone has been untouched. Each of these beautiful Agate Geode Bookends are unique in size, shape and coloring. Agate is formed from volcanic rock containing sparkling crystals and minerals. One piece of agate is sliced in two to create a pair of bookends like these. Agate is the most common variety of chalcedony which is a form of quartz. It is identical with quartz in composition and physical properties. Most agates occur in cavities of eruptive rocks or ancient lavas forming geodes filled with Quartz. Agate is Quartz with impurities causing the many different patterns.
